Week 5

 

Besides, our company's policy has stated that a medical allowance of RM200 will be given once a month to the factory workers if they submit their MC to the human resource department. One of my colleague had assigned me to calculate the total amount of money based on the medical claim form and issue the payment vouchers to the factory workers. To illustrate, our company will return back the money that the worker claim on medical fees on every Friday. However, some of the workers will ocassionally forget to collect their claims. Therefore, I will call them up to remind them that their claims is ready to be collect. Besides, I will also need to confirm that the workers had sign their own signature on the payment voucher too so that we can keep it as a proof that they have received the money. My colleague had told me that I will need to be responsible if the money has been stolen by other people. Therefore, I have learnt that I must be more careful in handling the money and make sure that I did not misplace the money in other place until to the end of the day. Then, I am responsible to return the cash that has not been claimed to my colleagues from the finance department before the office close. Furthermore, I hope that I can share my experience about the importance of responsibility and honesty to my colleagues in the future so that they will be more careful in handling the money.

 

 

 

 

 

Then, I will also need to check the suppliers' statement for the month of January by using the same procedures as I learned in week 2. However, I could not find some suppliers' statement on the SQL accounting software as the system said that the report cannot be rendered. Therefore, I had asked my colleague for the opinion on how to solve this problem. As a result, she had told me that the reason is because these statements have been paid long time ago and our company does not owe the suppliers' anymore. Hence, the invoice will not be shown in the system anymore unless I click the column for zero balance if I want to look for the report.

 

At this moment, all of us knew that the global oil price has dropped. Hence, my supervisor had assigned me and my colleague to do a research together regarding on the reason and the impact of the decrement in oil price. The objective of conducting this research is because our company's sales team would like to know does the decrement in oil price will affect our business. As a result, I have found out that one of reason that causes the decrement is because of the strong currency in US Dollar. In addition, the another reason is because of the supply of oil has exceeded the demand of the consumers. Therefore, the decrement in the oil price will eventually benefits the consumer as they can pay lesser for the fuel they used. However, a drop in oil price will not help the global economy to improve. Before we discuss our findings with our supervisor, we have also double check our work to ensure that the information that we gathered is correct. However, we have also faced a problem in conducting the research because we couldn't find out on which particular year does the oil price drop based on the past ten years. Hence, I had asked some opinion from other colleagues and they had taught me to reathd through the old newspaper online to gather the information as we do not have other alternatives to search for this information. By conducting this research, I have learnt that team work is important because it will increase the our efficiency in producing a quality work. Hence, I will make full use of my team work skills to excel in my career in the future.
