Week 12

 

Furthermore, my supervisor had assigned me to do a research based on the trend of the currencies between our country with other foreign countries. Besides, the time period that I need to find out for the trend of the currencies are twenty years. Hence, I have choose to focus on the trend for USD Dollar, Australian Dollar and Euro Dollar because our company wants to do some investment in these few countries. Therefore, I have done some research online and I found out that some websites have demonstrated the average exchange rate between the two countries into a graph. Then, I will compile all the graphs within the 20 years together before I present my work to my supervisor. The main objective of conducting this research is because our company would like to know how the changes in exchange rate will affect our return on the investment. One of the problem that I faced was some websites did not demonstrate the average exchange rate into a graph. Hence, I have used Mircosoft Excel to construct the graphs based on the information on the website. Moreover, I have also read through some online articles which talks about the prediction of the exchange rate in the next ten years. Then, I will discuss my findings and give some recommendations on how the exchange rate in the next ten years will affects our investment with my supervisor. By conducting this research, I have learnt some analytical skills on how to summarize the information and provide a solution to a problem. In the future, I hope that I can utilize my analytical skills to help the company to make a correct decision.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Moreover, my supervisor had also assigned me to help my colleague to catagorized all the stocks we have into different categories such as consumable-tanker, paint, machine, raw materials, gas and mild steel. Then I will total up the stocks value for each category and pass the information to my colleague. The main objective of calculating these stock value and categorized them into different categories is because my colleague wants to know all these information to apply for the guarantee cover from the Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad. Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad is a company that plays a developmental role in supporting the country’s economic development agenda by helping the SMEs, particularly enterprises without any collateral and track record to obtain financing from the financial institutions. One of the problem I faced in doing this assignment was I had categorized a few stocks into a different category. Therefore, when I pass the information to my colleague to apply for the guarantee cover, she had noticed some problems in my calculations. However, she told me that I have make a mistake on classifying the stock value. Then, I had also asked my colleague to give me some tips on differentiating the stocks. Hence, I will need to recalculate the stock value again based on the category that is correct and resubmit the information to my colleague again. Besides, I have learnt some observation skills in doing this assignment. Furthermore, I hope that I can improve my observation skills in the future by attending more workshops in this area so that I will be more careful in doing the assignments in the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Besides, I am also assigned to do some reseach on the different types of financial grant for the Small Medium Enterprise (SME) and the manufacturers in Malaysia through the website. Grant is a financial award given by the federal, state or local government to an eligible grantee. Furthermore, government grants are not expected to be repaid by the recipient. However, the company who wants to apply for the financial grant will need to go through the long application process to qualify and be approved for a government grant. Moreover, most recipients are required to provide the periodic reports on their grant project's progress in every three months. For instance, there are a few types of financial grant in Malaysia such as matching grant for business start-ups, matching grant for product and process improvement and grant for enhancing marketing skills for SMEs. All of these grants will have their own qualifying criteria, sector coverage, form of assisstance, eligible expenses and form of application. The main objective of conducting this research is because our company's would like to know how we can make use of the grant to improve our business. However, I have also faced a problem in conducting the research because I could not find the latest information regarding about the financial grants as the government will ammend the terms and conditions yearly. Therefore, I have sent an email to the government department who in charge of the financial grants to request for the latest qualifying criteria in order to ensure that the information that I submit to my supervisor is up to date. In the future, I will apply the management skills that I have learnt in this internship to help the company to manage their fund effectively.
